Chaji - the topmost “omotenashi” or hospitality in the tea ceremony.
You will experience proper formal tea ceremony starting from sumi-temae (the preparation of tea with charcoals), kaiseki ryori, koi-cha and usu-cha. Prior knowledge of tea ceremony is required to participate in this workshop. Please tell us your personal experience. Inquire for rate.

French Table Manners

Tuesdays-Saturdays (except holidays)

This is a hands-on workshop to learn western table manners and protocols. You will learn the table manners that can be applied anywhere you go while enjoying high quality French cuisine in Japan. The lecture is conducted in a small group and includes how to use the cutlery (silver), how to escort, good postures, how to handle a wine glass, how to become a confident and sophisticated cosmopolitan.

This hands-on workshop is best suited for a business person who works for a company based in Japan or a foreign company dealing with Japan.
Need to go on a client dinner at a Japanese restaurant? Through this workshop you will understand the Japanese vertically structured society, acquire the different negotiating manners depending on your client’s position, and Japanese general business etiquette such as exchanging business cards, followed by Japanese table manner practice while trying out kaiseki ryori with the sensei. The lecture includes Japanese table manners, Japanese ways of thinking, and how Japanese express their feelings, to gear you up for the smooth and effective communication with your Japanese clients. Learning about Japanese fundamental thoughts and historical background will enable you to apply it to many situations. The instruction is not only on superficial etiquettes but also its origin. In this workshop, there will be a thorough lecture on Japanese business etiquette, followed by a practice session of a client dinner while trying out kaiseki ryori with Sensei.
